Boat Hull

A Mahogany wood, is it good material to construct for a wooden boat hull?
i'm planning to construct a Single Hull wooden boat which has CAPACITY of 100 people. please help me to determine which good materials for my up coming project.
Philippine Mahogany or "narra", is one of the woods preferred for wooden boat building/construction because of it's stiffness, resiliency, strength and easy to work on. It's mostly used on the keel, rudder post and ribs. Other woods are "lauan" and marine grade plywood for the hull covering.
Have fun bro..

Boating Tutor - Boat Hull Designs and Engine Types
There are a variety of shapes and sizes for boat “hulls” or boat bottoms. A hull is designed to either displace or plane through the water. Small powerboats are usually built with planing hulls. They are designed to rise up and ride on top of the water at high speeds. Sailboats on the other hand use displacement hulls which allows the larger boat to move through the water smoothly.
Hull Types come in Flat bottom, Round bottom, Deep-V hull and Multi-hull.
Flat bottom hull boats are generally designed for slow speeds and calm waters. They tend to be less stable than other hull types in rough water.
Round bottom hull boats move smoothly through the water with little effort. A canoe is an example of a round bottom hull boat. Boaters have to be more cautious when loading, entering and exiting a round bottom boat because these boats can roll very easily.
Deep-V hull boats move through rough water, at higher speeds with a mother ride than a flat bottom or round bottom boat. This the most common hull type for powerboats. These boats require a larger engine than a flat or round bottom boat.
Multi-hull boats require plenty of room to steer and turn and are the most stable of the hull types. Pontoon boats and Catamarans are boats that use the multi-hull design.
Boats not only have different hull types, they are powered by different engine types (outboard, inboard and stern drives).
Outboard engines are typically two-stroke engines which require oil to be mixed with fuel to lubricate the engine, similar to gas powered weed eaters. An outboard engine is mounted on the transom of the boat and is controlled by a hand tiller or steering wheel which moves the entire engine as steering is changed.
Inboard engines are typically four-stroke automotive engines which have been modified for use on the water. These type engines are mounted inside the hull of the boat and powers the drive shaft which is connected to the propeller. Directly behind the propeller is the rudder which controls steering.
Stern Drive engines are commonly known as inboard/outboard engines. They have features found on both inboard and outboard engines. Stern drive engines use four-stroke automotive engines, modified for use on water, like inboard engines. Similar to outboard engines, the entire engine moves when the steering is adjusted. Stern drive engines are mounted inside the boat and attached through the transom.

check with your DNR before you take it out and get fined!
I'm from Ohio we dont title boats under 14' but then again I dont know your laws.
Being that old you may have to take it to the DNR to have it checked to make sure it is a safe vessel (inspected) then they will decide weather or not to give you the okay!
Good Luck and Happy Fishing!!

Let's play the “How many of the Four Rules did he violate” game!
Lessee:
1. Guns are always loaded (so act accordingly). Ching!
2. Never point the muzzle at anything you're not ready to put a hole in (examples: boat hulls, buttocks, etc). Ching!
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until the sights are alligned on the target. Ching!
4. Be sure of your target and what's behind it. Wait a minute … Judges, what's your ruling? Ching!
I'd say it was a Trifecta, but it looks like he got all four. A Quadfecta?

When I was in high school I was into kayaks and I didn’t have any money so I decided to build one myself. I went through a bunch of designs (I find boat hull design very interesting) and while I was dreaming up my kayak, came up with a design using two hydrofoils that would lift the main hull of the kayak just out of the water at mid-high end of normal paddling speeds. This was pre-2000. I had no means to produce or test my idea. Sure enough, the came out while I was in college, and I lost my shit talking to my friends about how I was totally going to make that five years ago!

Just Matt? Why not put a layer of roving between the matt to make a one and a half ply patch instead of just matt .10 times the strength of just matt. For even better results, make your taper on your glass attachment at least 5 to 1 and put back the same as what is there still.

I live on a large lake, boat and docks in a small cove 3-6 ft. deep. is there any info on whether or not a bubbler like this would help reduce the build up of algae on boat hulls if placed directly under boat. hull turns black after a few weeks in water and need acid to remove it in the fall when it comes out of water.
some people use a boat lift but my location is not user friendly for installing and removing the lift in winter.
