British Chieftain

I am looking for the title of an old movie circa 1945?
The basic plot is there is a British soldier stationed in a South Pacific nation. There is a British magistrate that acts as the government, but there is an occupying force (Japanese, Chinese?) that actually controls the government. The main character helps lead the locals to revolt against the oppressing party. During the revolt he kills the son of the local chieftain and has to face the chieftain as per local custom. Also, the sister of the dead man is in love with the main character. It's probably been 20 years since I have seen this movie, so don't remember any details. Thank you.
Some of your description sounds like Burt Lancaster in "His Majesty O'Keefe."

British Chieftain Tank FV4201 - Exclusive footage
Why do so many british tank names begin with the letter C?
Cromwell tank, Churchill tank, Centurion, Chieftain tank, Challenger 1 and 2.
Just out of curiosity I noticed that several British tanks made over the last 70 years start with the letter C in their name is there any reason for this or is it all coincidence.
It's not a coincidence. Let me see if I can remember what I read once. Before WWII there were more than one class of tank. One of the classes was the 'Cruiser' tank and all names began with the letter C. The class system has been discontinued but the habit or tradition of naming tanks with a C initial remained. Good luck to you
