Controlled Sherman

What would have happened if the Japanese have had won the battle of midway island?

Intro- Continue the offensive and affect the homeland( Grand Strategy)of victory of Europe affect the balance of power in Europe.

2ND- U.S. must focus on protecting the west coast/ Hawaii

3RD-No aid to great Britain in North Africa(300 Sherman Tanks)

4TH-Delays victory in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Normandy

5TH-Soviet Union collapses/ or rolls through Germany to control much of Europe.

Conclusion-

I don't get what his trying to make us do like what does europe have to do with anything?

Not much would have happened. We would have had to delay offensives on Japanese held territories for several more months, maybe a year. But the Japanese were not able to produce carriers as quickly as we were, and their military forces were already spread thin. FDR had already made it clear that he wanted the Germand dealt with first. So aid to the Allies would NOT have suffered significantly. The navy would have simply put together another carrier fleet and train its sailors and pilots. The European war would have carried on pretty much as it had, and the war in the Pacific might have dragged on until 1946.

If you want a more perverse what if, had the Japanese won Midway, the Soviets would have been even more distrustful of the other Allies, believing we were dragging our heals on purpose. Once the European war was won (and D-Day would still have happened at about the same time), the Russians would have simply stayed out of the fight in the Pacific, allowing America to bleed itself out more. Then they would not have claimed several Japanese claimed islands, and tensions would not have been as bad after the war. Not a likely scenario, but a possible one.
In short, Midway was make or break for the Japanese, but not for us. And the loss of even one carrier for them was far more critical than it was to us.
