Where do I learn to become a deck officer on a ferry boat?
i want to become a licensed third officer on a BC ferries boat and then eventually work my way up to second officer, 1st officer and captain. How would I go about doing this?
The best place to start is with the CoastGuard. Take courses, get your certificates. You will also require other courses, such as diesel mechanics and safety at sea, etc. Is there a maritime school around you? Check in with them or failing that, the Coast Guard. They should be able to assist you in advising what tickets and time on sea is required in order to get qualified for the positions you seek.
Also, it will not hurt you one bit to contact RYA and go through their cirriculum and certification process. THat can definitely get you jobs professionally on yachts/boats, which will give you necessary sea time.
All the best.

Yeah, that's the magic of French men. I love them! I mean, I was talking to this French guy who was married, and essentially setting me up with his friend, but he was still flirting with me at the same time! It's not like “hey, let's get into bed” — because that's obviously not the situation, but just “i appreciate your beauty”
i mean, this makes sense, because why limit flirting to those we want to sleep with? (this is going to sound kind of cheesy,
) Why not give appreciation for the joy that beauty brings us everyday?
French-Canadians guys are the same, I took a ferry boat with two of them on the way back from the islands, and they were so amazing!

I don’t have any problem with being rude. I love being rude, when it’s called for. Being rude isn’t the antithesis of civility. The call for a return to civility is more about stopping violent rhetoric. Calling you an intellectual infant because your argument has more straw men in it than passengers on a Filipino ferry-boat is quite different from suggesting that people who subscribe to your philosophies are traitors and ought to be dealt with accordingly. The former is perhaps rude (although the best defense is the truth, as they say); the latter is violent.
