The quick and easy way to fill your Motorhome Inboard water tank
my sailboat is out of the water for bottom paint?
I noticed that the prop shaft has some wiggle in it. Does that mean the shaft bearing is bad, or could it just be the stuffing box just needs repacking? It is a 34 foot Tartan with inboard diesel.
Thanks
That is usuallythe case when a shaft has play in it . But If it has play in it because of lack of stuffing I wonder why you didn't notice any extra water in the bilge or vibration ,or did you? It wasn't stated in your question. Seeing that all ready have the vessel dry docked I would take advantage of it being in a yard. I would pull the prop and have a trained shaft specialist at least put a laser to it to see if it is out of alalignmentThis shouldn't cost you more than $180.00 specially in this economy , so don't spend more than that for the whole inspection. Hope it works out
