Jet Speed Boat
Hi guys, i'm going to look at a used picton 150 gto jet powered speed boat, any tips on things to look for?
or standard things to watch or test on a jet boat??

Jet boats are hard to test out of the water. You need to see how well the impeller forces water through it and moves the boat. If there is a lot of wear inside the impeller and housing, the boat won't move very fast in the water. Also, check the u joints and make sure they spin freely while running. These should also have grease fittings that need grease each season. Look for bad vibrations while boat is running. Remember a jet boat only turns under power. Not like an outboard. Also, bad for any place that has lots of weeds. At a slow speed you will clog the intake grate and have to get into the water to unclog it.. I find a boat that has an external clean out is much easier to unclog than something inside the hull.
