Nitro Outboard
2002 nitro boat............?
i found a 2002 nitro 18 foot boat with a 125 mercury outboard motor for 7,500. the only thing i noticed was a very fine hair line crack across the transom about 2 foot long. is that serious or normal? i lifted up on the motor and pushed down on it and the crack didn't get bigger or smaller it stayed the same.
Yes it is serious. You can't see how deep it is and engine vibration will surely make it worse. Don't touch it unless you have a professional survey and factor in the cost of replacement.

Nitro Hammer Dual outboard Conversion Bench test
my mercury 115hp outboard was raised up one set of mounting hole,s what did this do,?
slow on take off on nitro z6 with 14by21 pitch blade
every boat has a specific height that a specific motor should mount on. i've rigged new boats and installed the chosen motor. you have a book from the manafacture that says where to place the motor, and what to expect out of certain prop sizes.
unless it was installed wrong to begin with, i don't see why you would of changed it.
if a motor is too high, you will get cavitation, your prop will suck air into the water and not be able to provide full thrust.
in addition the water inlets are higher and more likely to suck air, which can cause overheating and impeller failure.
the large flat plate above the prop is called a anti cavitation plate. at full cruising speed it should be about level with the surface of the water.
too high or too low and you lose performance due to cavitation or drag.
