who thinks the Tiger 2 should have been just an updated tiger 1 tank with sloped armor.?

I know the tiger 1 tank couldn't mount the 8.8cm gun mounted on tiger 2 but I believe they could of made more (equally devastating) and cheaper than the new design. Then again why not slope the armor and upgrade from leaf spring to torsion bar suspension and upgrade engine for the Panzer IV tank and forget about the tigers altogether, They still carry a leathal 7.5cm gun. What is your opinion. Cheersd John.
That a fair comment about history being hist ory but some of us love WW2 Tanks and fantasise about would could have been, knowing it wont change history, it's just fun.

The Germans always had the idea that superior technology rather than quantity would help them win. It was proven wrong.

Tiger 2 was technologically superior with better amor protection due to sloped armor, more lethal 88 mm gun, mobility itself wasnt half bad at 25 mph considering its weight. The same reason applies to the panther it was superior to the T34 and Panzer IV.

Both were magnificent fighting machines, even though they faced larger numbers and in some cases a superior tank like the Joseph Stalin tanks.

The main problem is that Germany was not able to fully supply suficient numbers due to Alleid bombing. If anyone is to blame its the luftwaffe.

Although personally it would have been better to produce tank destroyers like the Marder III or Jagdpanther for defensive roles and mainly panthers for offence along with these heavy tanks to provide the breakthrough.

The addition of a turret makes the difference in defence or offence.

Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf E tiger 1 late

ive got most of the detailing sorted, metal hatches, air vents and periscope ports, full metal track, wheels and sprockets and gear box upgrade with metal suspension and torsion bars, i have a few images but they are not that great, i need to cross reference with more sources as accuracy is key before painting.

Bought out a collection of 1/72 scale tanks earlier this year an the first one was the Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger Ausf. E (Sd.Kfz. 181) of the 13./Pz Regt. "Grossdeuchland" Neuhammer (Germany) 1943. if that means anything to you, It came with a detailed booklet, they might have some left.
You piqued my interest and I did a Google and this was one of thousands of pages.
